Directions
By Taxi/Transfer
If you have pre-arranged your transfer, your driver will meet you in the arrivals area of the airport. If you wish to take a taxi, they can be booked after the arrivals area or once outside the airport gate. It is better (and cheaper) to pre-arrange a private transfer. Please inquire for our best rates.
By Bus
1) Take airport shuttle to Colombo bus station. ~$1-2/pp. Exit airport and turn left and walk past the end of the airport building. Look for the large a/c buses on your right about 100m away. They depart every 30 minutes between 6am and 8-9pm and less frequently thereafter. Times can vary slightly.
2) Once at the Colombo bus stand, find the main road, cross it at the pedestrian lights and walk left about 250 metres. On your right will be the long-distance bus stand. At the very end of it in the far corner will be a large a/c bus taking the highway to Matara. They leave approximately every 30-60 minutes. c.$4/p. 2.5-3.0 hours. Once in Matara, follow the instructions on the ‘From Matara’ tab.
3) Airport Express to Matara – This service runs twice a day between Negombo and Matara, stopping at the airport to collect more passengers. There is a service early morning (around 7:30am) and possible a late morning service. If you are lucky enough to find this bus, take it. It is fast, convenient and the best way to get down south very affordably. $5-6/p. 3-4 hours.
By Bus
Go to the long-distance bus stand (Bastian Mawatha). At the very end of the bus stand in the far corner will be a large a/c bus taking the highway to Matara. They leave approximately every 30-60 minutes. c.$4-5/pp. 2.5-3.0 hours. Once in Matara, follow the instructions on the ‘From Matara’ tab.
By Train
It is possible to take the train from Colombo Fort station to Weligama station (5km from Mirissa). Trains leave irregularly and can be very busy. $1-2/pp. Only 2nd and 3rd class seats are available. 2nd class is recommended.
From Weligama, either take a tuk-tuk ($3-4) or get the 346/2 or 350 bus in the Matara direction from the bus stand 150m away. Jump off at Mirissa. Rs.60
By Bus
Take the 346/2 (Matara-Weligama) or 350 (Matara-Galle) bus from the main bus stand. Get off at Udupila Junction, Mirissa. Continue walking in the same direction as the bus for about 200m. Walk past the Cargill’s Food City on your right side, and turn right down the next street (Yatipila Road). Walk approximately 150m and we are situated on your left (black and white sign board). Bus fare will be Rs.100-150. 20-30 minutes.
By Bus
Take the 350 (Galle-Matara) or 02 (Colombo-Matara) bus from the main bus stand. Get off at Mirissa Junction stop. Continue walking in the same direction as the bus for 200m. Turn left at the street (Yatipila Road) just before the Cargill’s Food City supermarket. Walk approximately 150m and we are situated on the left. Bus fare will be Rs.150-250. 50-60 minutes.
